Stay at Home Please

Whilst in self isolation i felt the need to remind some people of their duties to just stay at home. We could be getting sent off to war but no, we are being asked to sit on the couch and keep ourselves entertained.

I have always been interested in wordmarks and logo as type so having some time to explore this was a joy!

Initially I created an elongated grid system but found it was not helping legibility of the words which might have been challenging at the best of times. It was also creating unwanted negative spaces that started to fill with ‘homes’. They were fun and could have been pushed further but i really wanted to wrap this design up in a single day.

I had taken a more aggressive approach to my message initially as I was really pissed with people taking liberties on their last hurrah like the weren’t part of the same society I was doing my part to protect.

Taking to Photoshop and its simple timeline animation setup I made a few gif versions that reflected the aggressive message i wanted to share.

SO I waited till the morning to post onto Instagram and perhaps my anger has subsided slightly whilst dreamt of nicer things. I also had friends on my mind, friends who ran businesses, cafes and restaurants who were having to shut. My message wouldn’t help them, so i decided to dial it back a bit to included the thought about businesses. If we want to come out of this with the world intact we have to think about everybody.
